About Mary Hunt Founder and Editor Debt-Proof Living
With many years of successful entrepreneurial experience under her belt, Mary Hunt felt ready to take public her credo, "Bringing dignity to the art of living below your means." As creator and editor of Debt-Proof Living, an interactive membership website and a monthly newsletter that premiered in January 1992 (formerly Cheapskate Monthly) to overwhelming success, Mary has combined her expertise in business with a message that over-spenders and those burdened with debt seem ready to hear.
After 22 years of continuous publication, Debt-Proof Living continues to expand its consumer influence and subscriber base, most notably through its electronic family of subscribers via its website, Debuting in 1998, the website attracts more than 8 million hits a month and features Mary’s constant theme of financial responsibility, empowerment and hope.

In the fall of 2005 Mary joined the editorial team at Woman’s Day magazine (20 million readers), as WD’s money guru and contributing editor. Her column, Your Money, first appeared in the January 2006 issue and continued each issue for the next five years.

Mary can also be seen every day in the inboxes of 45,000 subscribers to her blog and in hundreds of newspapers across the country in her Everyday Cheapskate column. Syndicated through Creator’s Syndicate, Mary's column features household tips, money-saving strategies, reader questions and recipes.
Debuting in January 2003, Everyday Cheapskate has been embraced by readers in every financial strata and enjoys a very loyal following. The column has a daily readership of more than a million who find it in their local mid-sized newspapers, and to 45,000 email subscribers who receive the column each morning in their inbox.

In addition to her role as author, cheerleader and speaker, Mary has repeatedly been asked by corporate America to expand her scope and influence to consumers. She has served as consumer spokesperson on several campaigns including those for Procter and Gamble, Procter & Gamble, Microsoft, Quaker Bagged Cereals and MCI, to name a few.

Mary has found success and satisfaction in her unique role of bringing hope to many who are buried under the weight of consumer debt through her newsletters, her public speaking and her books.

Mar is the author of 26 published books including best sellers Debt-Proof Living and Raising Financially Confident Kids. Mary continues her role to educate and equip consumers. "It's the money you don't spend that ultimately gives you the freedom to live the life you love!"

Prior to devoting herself full time to her writing and speaking projects, Mary co-founded the highly regarded and very profitable industrial real estate brokerage and property management firm, Hunt Industrial Properties. Before handing over her portion of the management reigns to her husband and co- founder, Harold Hunt, her involvement in the sales, leasing and property management of industrial and commercial real estate properties totaled over 15 years. In addition, Mary's professional associations also included serving on the Board of Directors of the prestigious American Industrial Real Estate Association.

Mary attended The Master's University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance. Hunt lives with her husband in Northern Colorado.
